Vape coils/pods

Vape coils and pods are the parts that wear out. The coil is the heating element that turns e-liquid into vapour. On most pod kits the coil sits inside the pod itself, so a fresh pod is a fresh coil. On sub-ohm tanks and some higher-end pod kits, the coil is a separate replaceable head that unscrews from the tank or pod body.

Local Supplies stocks replacement coils and pods for the main UK-facing kit ranges, including Vaporesso GTX and COREX, VOOPOO PnP, SMOK RPM, Uwell Caliburn, OXVA Xlim and Geekvape Q.

At a glance:

  • 43 replacement coils and pods across the main UK kit brands
  • Coil resistance from 0.15ohm sub-ohm mesh up to 1.2ohm MTL
  • Pods in 2ml (nicotine-containing) and larger 4.5ml to 5ml (0mg-only) options
  • Sold in 3-packs and 4-packs on most SKUs
  • Same-day UK dispatch on orders placed before the daily cut-off
  • For adult vapers aged 18 and over only

Which coil or pod fits your device

Compatibility is model-specific, not brand-specific. A Uwell Caliburn G3 coil does not fit a Caliburn A2. A Vaporesso XROS 4 pod does not fit an XROS 6. Check the exact device model printed on your kit before ordering.

Integrated-coil pods

Vaporesso Luxe X, XROS COREX 2.0 and most compact pod kits use a single-piece pod where the coil is built in. When the coil dies, the whole pod is replaced. Simplest to run, slightly more expensive per millilitre over time.

Replaceable coil heads

VOOPOO PnP, SMOK RPM 2, Uwell Caliburn G3, Vaporesso GTX and Vaporesso Armour tanks use a coil head that screws into the pod or tank body. When the coil dies you keep the pod and swap only the coil. Cheaper long term, gives more flexibility on resistance.

Coil resistance, ohms and vape feel

Coil resistance in a vape is measured in ohms. Lower resistance means more power, more vapour and a warmer draw. Higher resistance means less power, less vapour and a tighter draw.

0.8ohm to 1.2ohm (MTL)

Mouth to lung. Feels similar to a cigarette. Suits 10mg or 20mg nic salt at 50/50 VG/PG. Most compact pod kits and most single-piece MTL pods sit in this range.

0.4ohm to 0.7ohm (Restricted DTL)

Restricted direct to lung. A bigger draw than MTL but not full cloud-chuck. Suits 3mg to 10mg in 60/40 or 70/30 VG/PG. Some higher-end pod kits and small sub-ohm tanks operate here.

0.15ohm to 0.3ohm (Sub-ohm)

Full direct to lung. Large clouds, warm vape, needs a proper mod or sub-ohm-capable pod kit. Suits 3mg to 6mg in 70/30 or higher VG shortfill.

How long a coil should last

A single coil head usually lasts one to two 10ml bottles of nic salt in a pod kit, or two to four days of daily use in a sub-ohm tank. The lifespan depends heavily on the wattage you run, the VG level in your e-liquid, and whether you priming the coil properly before first use.

Signs a coil is done: the taste turns burnt, vapour output drops, spluttering when you draw, gurgling from the pod. Change the coil head or pod at the first burnt taste. Vaping past a burnt coil is unpleasant and can shorten the pod housing life.

Priming a new coil

Before the first vape, drip two or three drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed wick of the coil. Screw the coil into the pod or tank. Fill the pod. Wait three to five minutes for the wick to fully soak. Take two or three primer puffs without pressing the fire button (or without inhaling deeply). Then vape normally. Skipping this step is the most common cause of burnt taste on a brand-new coil.

Our step-by-step guide, how to prime a vape coil, walks through the process for the main coil formats.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a vape coil? ×

The coil is the heating element inside your pod or tank. It heats the e-liquid on the wick to produce vapour. When it wears out you replace it.

How do I know which coil fits my kit? ×

Coil compatibility is device-specific. Check the exact model printed on your kit (for example Vaporesso XROS 6, not just Vaporesso). Each coil or pod product page on this site lists which specific devices it fits.

How long does a coil last? ×

In a pod kit, one coil head usually lasts one to two 10ml bottles of nic salt. In a sub-ohm tank, two to four days of daily vaping. Coil life drops if you run high wattage on a low-VG e-liquid.

Why does my new coil taste burnt straight away? ×

The wick has not soaked. Drip two or three drops of e-liquid on the exposed wick before installing, fill the pod, then wait three to five minutes before the first draw. Also check that the coil is screwed in fully and the pod is fully seated in the device.

What is the difference between MTL and sub-ohm coils? ×

MTL (mouth to lung) coils sit at 0.8ohm to 1.2ohm, use less power, and give a tight cigarette-like draw. Sub-ohm coils sit below 0.4ohm, use more power, and produce large clouds with a wider direct-to-lung draw.

Can I use any e-liquid with any coil? ×

No. High-VG shortfills need a low-resistance sub-ohm coil to wick properly. Nic salt at 50/50 needs a higher-resistance MTL coil. Using the wrong e-liquid for the coil either burns the coil or floods the pod.

Are these coils and pods genuine? ×

Yes. Local Supplies orders direct from authorised UK distributors. Every product page lists the manufacturer part reference so you can cross-check against the brand website.

How long does UK delivery take? ×

Standard tracked delivery is one to two working days from dispatch. Full options are on the shipping page.
