Sweetzone

Sweetzone is the UK's best-known halal sweet brand, and this collection brings together the lines we keep in stock at Local Supplies – fizzy bottles, chewy pencils, jelly bears, marshmallow twists and sour suckers, in everything from 170g peg bags to 800g tubs and full wholesale cases.

If you have ever had to put a bag of sweets back down after reading the ingredients, this is the range that saves you the job. Certification sits at brand level rather than product level, so anything with the Sweetzone name on it qualifies without you checking each label.

Is Sweetzone Halal?

The short answer:

  • Yes – Sweetzone holds HMC halal certification across its entire product range
  • The certification applies at brand level, so no per-product label checking is needed
  • No pork-derived gelatine is used anywhere in the range
  • Many lines are also suitable for vegetarians and vegans, though this varies by product – check the pack
  • Made in the UK by a British manufacturer, not imported and re-certified

About Sweetzone

Sweetzone was founded in 2002 by father-and-son team Bashir and Yasin Okhai, and has grown into one of the UK's largest manufacturers of HMC-certified halal confectionery. The business began in soft drinks before moving fully into sweets, launching its first products – marshmallows and candy floss – in 2004.

What separates Sweetzone from brands that bolt a halal line onto an existing range is that the whole operation was built around halal production from the start, which removes the shared-equipment and cross-contamination questions that come with retrofitted certification. The range now runs to jellies, fizzy sweets, belts, pencils, fruit chews, hard candy and lollipops, sold through supermarkets, wholesalers and independent shops across the UK.

Sweetzone FAQs

Are all Sweetzone sweets halal? ×

Yes. Sweetzone holds HMC halal certification that applies across its whole range rather than to individual products, so every item carrying the Sweetzone name is covered. That is the practical difference from brands where only part of the range is certified.

What gelatine does Sweetzone use? +

No pork gelatine is used anywhere in the range. Depending on the product, Sweetzone uses halal-certified beef gelatine or plant-based gelling agents such as pectin and starch. The ingredients panel on each pack states which applies.

Are Sweetzone sweets suitable for vegetarians or vegans? +

Some are, but not all – it depends on whether that particular sweet uses beef gelatine or a plant-based setting agent. Sweetzone flags suitability on the packaging, so check the individual pack rather than assuming it applies range-wide.

Is a tub better value than a peg bag? +

Considerably. An 805g tub at £3.33 works out at roughly a quarter of the price per 100g of a 170g bag at £1.29. If you are buying for a household or an event, the tub is the sensible choice; peg bags make more sense as single servings.

Do you sell Sweetzone wholesale? +

Yes. The 7p Sour Suckers listing is a full case of six 800g tubs at £22.50, priced for retailers and caterers. If you need case quantities of other lines in the range, get in touch and we will quote.

What is the difference between 2p and 10p pencils? +

It is the size of the individual sweet, not the flavour. The 10p pencils are longer and sold as a 100-piece box; the 2p rainbow pencils are shorter and come tubbed at 805g. Both are the same chewy format with a soft fondant centre.

Where is Sweetzone made? +

In the UK. Sweetzone is a British manufacturer producing domestically to halal-certified standards, rather than importing sweets and certifying them afterwards. The company has been operating since 2002.

How quickly will my order arrive? +

Weekday orders placed before 4pm are dispatched the same day, with next working day delivery available across the UK. Delivery is free on orders over £35, which one tub plus a couple of bags will usually cover.
